Description: Slugs NYC 1969 Yusef Lateef, Roland Kirk, Freddie Hubbard Concert Poster. Jazz concert advertising window card for Slugs' Saloon in New York City spanning six weeks in June and July, 1969. Actually, the club had to drop the "Saloon" from its name due to liquor regulations, so they adopted "in the far east," referring to their out-of-the-way location in the East Village. Slugs' was considered a "musician's bar" and held only about 100 patrons. Jazz headliners advertised on this poster were the Yusef Lateef Quartet, the Roland Kirk Quartet, the Freddie Hubbard Quintet, the Chico Hamilton Sextet, the Roy Haynes Quintet and the Bobby Hutcherson-Harold Land Quintet. Shows ran until 4:00 AM.
